Authorities Order Closure of Schools and Colleges in Mumbai and Telangana
New Delhi, July 28: The Meteorological Department in India on Friday has issued a ‘yellow’ alert for Mumbai, the capital city of Maharashtra, while the authorities in the southern Indian state of Telangana ordered shutting down of schools due to incessant rains.
Many places in India are witnessing heavy monsoon rains, including Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, parts of Punjab and New Delhi.
According to media reports, due to heavy rains, orders have been isued to keep schools and colleges closed in Mumbai as well.
The IMD predicted more rain in parts of Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and South Interior Karnataka.
The floodwaters have caused widespread destruction in many parts of India.
