The Jammu-based Newspaper Accused of Peddling Fake News Against Service Selection Board
Srinagar, Aug 01: A court in Srinagar on August 01 issued a non-bailable warrant against the Managing Editor of a Jammu-based newspaper. The newspaper stands accused of writing a ‘fake story’ on Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB) ‘paper leak’.
A non-bailable warrant was issued against Mohit Mehra, Managing Director Daily Jammu Jottings. There is also a First Information Report (FIR) vide FIR number 53/2023 under section 501, 502, 153 Indian Penal Code registered against the Jammu-based newspaper in Srinagar’s Police Station Sardar.
Reportedly, the court has asked Police to arrest the accused by or before August 22.
In this connection, as per J&K Police, a written complaint was lodged by SSRB Srinagar against Daily Jammu Jottings, Plot No. 77, Lower Roop Nagar, Sharika Vihar, behind JDA Flats, Jammu.
In one of its news items, the newspaper cited reference to the alleged sale of question papers of J&K Services Selection Board. According to JKSSB, the news item was “baseless”.
